FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - PIERCING

WHAT IS A 'MEET AND GREET' PIERCING APPOINTMENT?

The first thing we like to do for kiddos that are considering getting their ears pierced is set up a Meet and Greet appointment. This appointment allows you and your little one to come in, meet the piercer, check out the jewelry options available, view the piercing room, go over any paperwork that's needed the day of the piercing and ask any questions you both have and set up the actual piercing appointment 😊

We have found that by offering this on a separate day than the piercings that kiddos (and parents) handle it 10x better. If you and your little one are ready to make the first step towards getting pierced, you can do this here

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT FROM OTHER SHOPS?

100% single use, sterile, & disposable. So what does this mean exactly?

A disposable studio is a studio that does not reprocess and reuse any equipment, instead they chose presterilized  single-use implements (or sterilized upon use) that can be used on a single client and then thrown away afterward. Other shops tend to reprocess their tools for use on future clients, over and over.

This is a multiple step process: Immediately after use, the tools should be placed in a tray containing a chemical cleaning solution. When those tools are ready to be processed, they are run through an ultrasonic cleaning machine, hand scrubbed, rinsed, dried, and packaged for sterilization in the shop’s autoclave.

Which is better? Well, when done correctly, using reprocessed tools is just as safe as using single-use, disposable equipment. There are also a few key reasons why we decided to go 100% disposable:

Client safety. Let’s face it, artists and piercers are not robots. With how many steps are involved in reprocessing tools safely, there is a chance for human error. By avoiding reprocessing tools and equipment altogether, you eliminate the risk of someone making a mistake.

Personal safety. There is always a certain amount of risk involved when dealing with biohazardous materials and harsh chemicals. Personal protective equipment or PPE (gloves, sleeve protectors, aprons, and face masks) can minimize this risk, but if you can avoid it entirely by using disposable tools, why wouldn't you?

Environmental. Let's consider the amount of waste created when reprocessing one single tool: chemicals for cleaning, water for rinsing and filling the ultrasonic/autoclave, electricity for running these machines, a full suit of plastic personal protective equipment, several pairs of gloves, and plastic packaging for the tool. Compare this to simply throwing away a single-use tattoo tube, and it's obvious which winner is more eco friendly.

Going disposable was the best choice for both our clients’ and our safety.

I CAN ONLY BE PIERCED WITH A CERTAIN MATERIAL, WHAT DO YOU CARRY FOR JEWELRY?

We figured since we care about health and safety so much, we wouldn't be complete without making sure the materials we use for jewelry are also in that category. With that being said, ALL of our jewelry is made from implant grade titanium, niobium, 14k, and 18k gold. Our options are all hypoallergenic and safe to worn by the body, and the best part? It's backed by a lifetime guarantee against manufacturing defects! This means that if something breaks, falls apart, or if the wearable surface ever becomes too scratched for wear, you can bring it back for a FREE repair from the company it was purchased from. We like to make sure your investment is protected.

CAN I GET THIS PIERCED?
Every piercing is anatomy dependent. Finding out if your specific anatomy can be pierced is simple, just schedule a quick in person Anatomy Consult for this. You don't even have to be pierced, but at least you'll know what's do able and you can plan your next piercing. You can book an appointment for this here.
HOW MUCH DO YOUR PIERCINGS COST?
Piercing service fees are typically $30-$75 per piercing, depending on the piercing, and this does NOT include the cost of jewelry.
WHY IS THERE A SEPARATE JEWELRY COST?
The procedure fee is separate from the jewelry cost so clients can actually have a choice as to what they want to be pierced with. This isn't your normal tattoo shop where the price includes both jewelry and the piercing fee and you have one option to get pierced with. Gone are those days. These days our clients can actually get pierced with jewelry they get to pick out.
HOW MUCH DOES JEWELRY COST?
Jewelry cost completely depends on the piece. It usually starts around $12.50 for implant grade titanium and increases substantially from there depending on materials, size, etc. Gold, Genuine Diamonds, and Gemstones are always going to cost more than titanium and cubic zirconia. For of all these reasons, all jewelry pricing is done in person here at the studio.

CAN I BRING MY OWN JEWELRY TO BE PIERCED WITH?

Unfortunately, state law says we can't allow that, and we wouldn't want to. We care about health and safety too much. We stock the best body jewelry, which means implantable grade quality jewelry, which means it's the safest. We also custom fit your jewelry to your body so it's never a 'one-size-fits-all' type of deal.

DOES IT HURT?

That's a tricky question, since pain is subjective, and everyone reacts differently. What is painless for you may be a little worse for someone else. While we can't promise a completely painless piercing, we CAN promise that we will use the best jewelry on planet earth, brand new needles for every single piercing, and the latest and greatest techniques to make you as absolutely comfortable and bring you an experience that you'll be telling your friends about.

IVE HEARD YOU PERFORM A PIERCING FOR MIGRAINES, HEADACHES, WEIGHT LOSS, ETC, DOES IT REALLY WORK??

While we would love to say yes to this, we just can't. We are piercers and not medical professionals. All we can guarantee is a professional piercing. If you or someone you know has had a piercing that's helped them with a medical condition, that's great! Unfortunately, since there is zero medical evidence to prove any piercing has ANY effect on any ailments, we don't like to make those claims. We would like to leave the real work to the doctors and stick to what we know best. If you are looking for medical relief, maybe reconsider your desire to get pierced. If you are looking to have a safe and stylish piercing done, then we are here for you!

ARE YOU EXPERIENCED?
We have a combination of 14 years piercing experience between our current staff members.

WHAT ALL DO I NEED TO GET PIERCED?

Our state law requires that every person being pierced needs a form of I.D. that has their photo and birth date displayed. For Minors, see below.

I'M A MINOR, CAN YOU PIERCE ME?
Depending on the piercing and your age, yes.
If you are under 18 you will need a consent form notarized, EVEN with your parent or legal guardian.
You can print one off here
You will need an ID if you are under 18. These forms are acceptable for minors: birth certificate, driver's license, learners permit, or passport. Your parent or legal guardian will need to be present during the piercing with their ID as well.
DO YOU PIERCE BABIES EARS?
State law in Florida permits babies ages 3 months and older, however, we prefer that everyone we pierce be able to comprehend and understand the procedure that is taking place. For this reason we do not pierce anyone under 5 years of age and we require a mandatory Meet and Greet appointment prior to any piercing appointment. The information regarding Meet and Greet criteria is at the very top of this page.

DO I NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
Yes! Appointments are required for every service we offer, but give us a call to check for same day availability.
STRETCHING / JEWELRY INSERTION

Stretching and/or inserting jewelry into a piercing should be done safely and pain free. If you need jewelry, we would be happy to help!

IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO DO BEFORE GETTING A PIERCING?

Eating a good meal at least an hour or two prior to receiving a piercing is a great idea as well as getting a great nights sleep. Stay Hydrated. Remember if you have any concerns, feel free to reach out to us.

SHOULD I TIP?

Tips are never expected but always appreciated! Tattoo artists and piercers are service workers like your hair stylists, nail techs, waitresses and delivery drivers. The same tipping scale you may use for them, works for us too.

HOW CAN I BEST PREPARE TO GET PIERCED?

Make sure to take care of yourself! Make sure you’re well rested, have had a good meal and are keeping hydrated. A happy body makes for happy healing!

When should I NOT get pierced?

  • Under the influence of drugs or alcohol

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Badly sunburned

  • Fighting illness (such as the flu)

  • Planning to travel or swim within the next several weeks

DO YOU ACCEPT RETURNS ON JEWELRY ?

Unfortunately due to the nature of our services, we do not accept returns. All body jewelry sales are final. We recommend that if you are purchasing body jewelry as a gift for someone else, be sure you know the exact size needed, otherwise we offer gift certificates! Gift certificates are non-refundable but can be used by someone other than the name listed.
